Hirschbiel Announces 21st Century Education Plan
“Education holds the key to America’s future success”

Virginia Beach, VA- Today, Virginia Beach businessman and community leader Paul Hirschbiel announced his 21st century education plan.  Hirschbiel unveiled his plan at an education roundtable that brought together leaders from across the field to discuss how we can work together to improve our education system.  His plan addresses a wide range of issues, including early childhood education, K-12 education, higher education, and workforce training.

“Education holds the key to America’s future success.  For our country to continue to succeed economically, it is imperative that we continue to out-innovate our global competitors.  But we can only out-innovate the rest of the world tomorrow, if we out-educate them today,” said Hirschbiel.

Hirschbiel continued, “In this 21st century global economy, our education system must prepare American workers to compete not only at home but also across the globe.  Achieving these substantive reforms will require a comprehensive, bi-partisan approach that invests in our children and provides them the tools they need to succeed.”

Hirschbiel, a widely recognized leader in early childhood education, is the Founding Chair of Smart Beginnings South Hampton Roads, the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation, and Horizons Hampton Roads.  Through Paul’s work, Smart Beginnings has grown to 29 different locations covering over 80% of children ages 0-5 in Virginia.

Highlights of Paul’s Education plan include:

-Expand Early Childhood Education
-Protect Funding for Head Start
-Increase Teacher Pay
-Protect Title I Funding
-Expand High School Workforce Training
-Make College More Affordable
-Improve College Graduation Rates
